What is Integrated Drive Generator or IDG in the engine

Integrated Drive Generator or IDG

Basic

- IDG means Integrated Drive Generator.

- IDG provides electrical power to all aircraft systems or parts.

- IDG supply 400V Hertz, 28V DC, 115V AC, and 90 kvw

- IDG located at below left side in the engine.

Work

- IDG operated by Accessory Gear Box (AGB).

- IDG consists a Generator and CSD (CSD means Constant Speed Drive).

- AGB drives the CSD.

- CSD by preventing electrical fluctuations, converts (regulate) the variable inputs of the engine into a fixed rotational speed for generator in constant form.

- So, Generator is uses this kinetic energy to CSD and converts into the electrical energy and provide to aircraft electrical network.
